Follow Your Bliss

Follow Your Bliss
The objects of our rituals matter.

As I showered this morning, I reflected on the intentionality of van life.

How, no matter what's going on in real life, the moment we enter van life, every act must be intentional.

A ritual.

A choosing.

I spent some time this morning thinking on coffee. I have a fancy setup at home, but I don't remember being intentional about it.

This morning, I was intentional.

Each part of the new ritual of coffee in my new life was selected with extreme care.

I use ChatGPT to bounce ideas and together, we closely researched every single item of what "coffee" will mean to me now:

  • coffee maker
  • WDT tool
  • scale
  • grinder
  • kettle
  • mug

Every item added to my list was done so with such love, such tenderness, for the me I am becoming reclaiming.

When I arrived at the last item in the list, the mug, I thought on the utilitarian Yeti mug I use now for my coffee, quick and easy to slap a lid on and go as needed.

Chat and I discussed this and came to the same conclusion: I need a handmade ceramic mug.

Well, it just so happens I already had one, which brings me to my next point.

We too easily get caught up in the, "I just know I'll be happy if ____," trap, forgetting that we have a choice right now to be so.

Ritual doesn't have to be saved for a special time.

Ritual is essential to life...daily.

So I pulled out that old mug.

I remembered something about how the artist--a local--liked to place encouraging messages on the bottoms of each of her pieces.

I flipped it over, and the tears welled.

"Follow your bliss."

Could there be any truer words for this journey we're on?

So today, loves, I invite you to consider where you can carve out a meaningful ritual right here and now.

Don't wait for bliss.

Don't settle for "if only ____, I could be happy."

Choose one small action step, carve out one tiny ritual, claim it as yours and follow your bliss.
